Forklift Truck Training (novice, experienced or refresher)

Fully accredited operator training for both novices and experienced operators who require refresher training.

Reducing the Risk of Accidents in the Workplace.

The need for professional training for lift truck operators is pressing - every year there are about 8000 reportable injuries involving lift trucks. Lift truck accidents are frequently associated with lack of suitable and sufficient operator training. Such training is an essential first step in reducing damage and injury.

As an employer, you are required to provide basic training and testing for all lift truck operators you employ (both new and existing). An ‘operator’ is anyone who operates a lift truck, even if it’s just a small part of their job, and ‘lift truck operator’ isn’t part of their job title. Properly trained operators can reduce the risk of lift truck accidents in your workplace.

Affordable Fork Lift Training

We offer fork lift training for new drivers (novice), experienced drivers (experienced) and those wishing to do conversion training, to enable them to operate another category of truck. Where possible, we keep the cost of our training down, by arranging single sessions between multiple farms, and passing the savings on to you.

Refresher Training

There is no specific time period after which you need to provide refresher training or formal assessment. However, you may decide that automatic refresher training or a re-test after a set period of time (e.g. 3 years) is the best way to make sure your workers stay competent.

Regular Refresher training will ensure operators:

  • maintain good driving habits
  • learn new skills where appropriate
  • reassess their abilities

Refresher training or re-testing might also be appropriate where operators:

  • have not used trucks for some time
  • are occasional users
  • appear to have developed unsafe working practices
  • have had an accident or near miss
  • have changed their working practices or environment

Prices include nationally recognised certificate. Additional charge for optional RTITB photo cards apply.

HSE REGULATIONS The HSE (Health and Safety Executive) state that under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998 under Regulation 9 - Training: Every employer should ensure that all persons who use work equipment have received adequate training for purposes of health and safety, including training in the methods which may be adopted when using the work equipment, any risks which such use may entail and precautions to be taken.

Visit www.hse.gov.uk for current legislation.

“Having three of the team trained to drive the fork lift makes us more efficient as there is always a trained driver available. It also demonstrates to them our trust and confidence in their abilities.” Planting Manager

These are the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive. Within the course there is flexibility to enable consideration of the delegates’ workplaces and accidents that could occur there.

Fire Warden

Designed to educate anyone who will be taking on the role of fire warden in their workplace with the required knowledge and skills.

Who is it For?

This course has been designed to educate anyone who will be taking on the role of fire warden in their workplace. It will familiarise you with what your specific duties are for upholding fire safety prevention standards and for ensuring evacuation procedures are effective should they be needed.

In order to become an accredited fire warden you will need to complete this dual qualification which covers the underpinning knowledge around undertaking fire safety awareness. This will enable you to minimise fire risks in your workplace, along with the fire warden training which will provide you with the knowledge to support advising the business on their responsibilities and being able to implement procedures, in the event that these are needed to be undertaken.

Module 1 – Fire Safety Awareness

This module will support your understanding around what is fire, types of fires, responsible people and employee duties, the legislation that needs to be met, due diligence in the workplace and types of evacuation strategies.

Module 2 - Undertaking the Fire Warden’s Role

This module will support your understanding and ability to be able to assess the risks of fire and other potential threats that may require an evacuation to take place and your involvement in emergency evacuation procedures.

In order to achieve this qualification, delegates will need to commit to undertaking 6 hours’ practice in order to complete the learning and assessment activities. Furthermore, delegates will need to achieve a pass on the multiple choice assessments and provide one written assignment, which is based on a simulated event and what you would need to do in the role.

OPTION 1 - Classroom sessions can be delivered to groups of up to 12 people, providing the training environment allows for groups of 4 people to move around to complete activities in small groups. In this environment the qualification can be delivered in one or two sessions.

OPTION 2 - Online webinar learning can be delivered to groups of 4 people and are delivered in “bite-sized” sessions over a period of 2 weeks.
