Hosted by our Serbian partner VSS (Voluntary Service Serbia) this project focuses on protecting important Wetlands.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING ON THIS PROJECT?

You will helping to protect the Kovilj-Petrovaradin Wetlands. Volunteers will be clearing vegetation and cleaning riverside areas. You will also work on preparing the sites where a new wooden watch tower and outdoor terrace will be built. Just 6 years ago, the area was inaccessible for both locals and tourists. Ultimately, the aim of the camp is to contribute to raising awareness on the importance of conservation of special nature reserves through implementing quality eco-tourism programmes. You will also take part in workshops about flora and fauna, bird watching trips and other outdoor activities.

WHERE WILL I BE STAYING?

You will be staying in Sremski Karlovci at a youth centre: “Eco center Radulovacki”. You will be sleeping in shared rooms and eat breakfast and dinner here. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant.

WHAT ABOUT LEISURE TIME?

Sremski Karlovci is situated on the slopes of the Fruska Gora mountain, just by the river Danube, in the region of Vojvodina, North Serbia. It is a small, picturesque town with a rich history. It is situated between two important natural areas, ''Kovilj-Petrovaradin Wetlands'' on one side and the oldest National park ''Fruska gora'' on the other. During free time, you will go on guided tours around Sremski Karlovci, Novi Sad (the second largest city in Serbia) and Fruska Gora mountain.
