Hosted by Cambodia Youth Action, this volunteer project works to support the Trapaing Sangke Fishing Community.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING ON THIS PROJECT?

Cambodia Youth Action has been working with the Trapaing Sangke Fishing Community (TFC) since 2012 in order to protect, preserve, and plant more mangrove. Mangrove helps ensure a steady income for the local community through fishing. Thanks to the support provided by international volunteers, the Trapaing Sangke Fishing Community now attracts thousands of tourists every year. This has resulted in them earning money from tourism as well as fishing.

Your main task on this project is picking mangrove seeds & planting, as well as supporting community activities such as building, running community cleaning campaigns, and organising workshops about waste management.

WHERE WILL I BE STAYING?

You will be staying in a shared bungalow which is rented by Cambodia Youth Action and is owned by the community. You and the other volunteers will take it in turns to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner.

WHAT ABOUT LEISURE TIME?

You will be working during the week and have the weekends free to relax and explore the local area.

Volunteers can enjoy their free days in different places in Kampot province, as well as travel to Kep, Bokor National Park & Rabit Island.
