Hosted by our Hungarian partner Egyesek Youth Organisation, this volunteer project is focused on organising and running a community festival.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING ON THIS PROJECT?

The organisation 'Preserving the Past for the Future' (Múlttal a Jövőért Egyesület) was formed in 2013, with its aims being to protect the rich cultural heritage of Bakony. The main focus of their work is environmental protection as well as organizing folklore activities. The 'Bakonyi Vígasság' (Celebration in Bakony) Festival in May is their largest annual event.

Tasks will include assisting in the construction and deconstruction of the festival venue (tents, stages, lighting system, stands), helping with the decoration, cleaning and helping to arrange rooms and assisting caterers.

WHERE WILL I BE STAYING?

You and the other international volunteers will be accommodated in a local hostel and will sleep in dorms. Food will be provided 3 times a day, with breakfast and dinner at the accommodation and a warm lunch at the festival venue.

WHAT ABOUT LEISURE TIME?

In between tasks and shifts, you will have a chance to enjoy the festival and take part in the activities such as listening to music or learning Hungarian folk-dance. On free days, you will participate in organised hikes in the area.
