Kenya

Partner: KVDA

Types of projects: MTV projects with KVDA are varied and involve supporting local schools, children centres, women’s groups, orphanages and other similar organizations. The type of work can vary considerably, and involve social work, teaching, raising awareness, health, administrative work, environmental work, farming, training activities and more. We recommend reading the information on the link below for more details. Please bear in mind that the outline of the projects is very general and more details will be sent upon request by the host organization.

Duration: usually 3 months minimum throughout the year, with the possibility of extending the project; dates are flexible.

Food and accommodation: Provided

Pocket Money: N/A

Extrafee: approx. from US$500 to USD$800 depending on the length of the project for food and accommodation. Fees cover also administrative and general organizational costs.

Requirements: volunteers aged 20+ , possibly with previous experience in international volunteer projects and/or independent travel experience in a country in Africa, Asia or Latin America.

Tanzania

Partner: UVIKIUTA

Types of projects: Teaching sports to teenagers, teaching English to adults learners, organizing activities for children aged 4-12, social work supporting the activities of an orphanage.

Duration: from 6 up to 12 weeks minimum throughout the year; dates are fixed.

Food and accommodation: Provided

Pocket Money: N/A

Uganda

Partner: UPA

Types of projects: UPA offers MTV projects that are mostly focused on HIV/AIDS awareness or support to people affected by it; providing medical care to communities or HIV/AIDS patients; teaching or other educational activities in schools, orphanages or other institutions; supporting activities in the local branches of UPA; other cultural or educational activities. Other types of projects might be available.

Duration: usually 3 months minimum throughout the year, with the possibility of extending the project; dates are flexible.

Food and accommodation: Provided

Pocket Money: N/A

Extrafee: US$500 for the first 3 months then USD$60 for each additional month for food and accommodation. Fees cover also administrative and general organizational costs.

Requirements: volunteers aged 20+ , possibly with previous experience in international volunteer projects and/or independent travel experience in a country in Africa, Asia or Latin America. Some projects involving medical care require volunteers with medical training or nurses; previous experience in the field of the project is welcome although not compulsory.
