Overseas Volunteering
We couldn’t claim to have local, in-depth knowledge everywhere – but we know people who do. We work in partnership with 80 organisations around the world, similar to Concordia. They run projects that make a genuine difference to the community – so you can feel a real sense of achievement and pride. Our partners are all part of Alliance of European Voluntary Services or The Co-ordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS).
Where to volunteer?
Where to go is a big decision, so give it careful thought. You could gain a great deal from experiencing a different culture. But bear in mind that you’ll need to be comfortable living and working there, especially if you haven’t travelled on your own before. And the further you travel, the more expensive the flight.
Concordia offers five kinds of overseas volunteering:
East West Programme
Short-term volunteer projects overseas (2 – 3 weeks) mainly in North America, Europe and South East Asia. Mostly during the Summer from June to September. Usually no training is needed for these.
North South Programme
Short-term community based volunteer projects (2 – 3 weeks) across the world, mostly in Africa, Asia and South American countries. To take part in these, you would need to come to a Concordia preparation session.
Medium-Term Programme
Projects usually lasting 1– 6 months, with our partner organisations across the world.
Bespoke Group Programmes
Community projects of 2 – 3 weeks, tailored for groups of 6 – 12 from schools and universities.
European Voluntary Service
Fully-funded volunteer projects across the world for up to 12 months, for UK and EU citizens aged 18 – 30.
New Volunteer Programme 2012
The new programme for Summer 2012 will be released in March 2012 with over 1500 projects available. If you want us to send you a reminder as soon as the new programme is live on our website, please send us an email and write on the subject “Summer Programme request“.
