Concordia will be running a 2 day training course on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March 2018 to train group coordinators for UK international projects.
Where: The training weekend will take place in Shoreham-by-Sea near Brighton. The venue will provide basic accommodation in a communal, shared room with camp beds. Meals will be provided.
Cost: Although we make no charge for the training itself, there will be a small fee (£40) to cover food and accommodation. Participants will be expected to pay their own travel expenses initially, however, those who go on to co-ordinate a project for Concordia can apply to have these travel expenses reimbursed at the end of the project.
Travel expenses are paid within the UK only – we do not reimburse for flights to the UK).
Why: These training weekends are a fun way of getting lots of practical advice on leading a project, as well as gaining useful information on group dynamics, cultural awareness, conflict resolution, budgeting, health and safety and cooking for large numbers! All co-ordinators receive a comprehensive ‘co-ordinator survival pack’ detailing the practical tips and advice covered during training and much more…
Most importantly though, the weekend provides an excellent opportunity to meet and chat with other experienced volunteers and co-ordinators in an informal setting.
“The Co-ordinator training was informative, thorough and fun. At the end of the weekend I felt confident I could lead a project and deal with any problems that arose.” – Coordinator training weekend participant.
PLEASE NOTE: taking part in the training weekend does not mean that you are committed to being a co-ordinator, although we’ll be really thrilled if you decide to. Those who are uncertain if they are ready to lead will not be pressured to do so.
